Ingredients
1 lb ground beef (80/20)
1/2 lb Italian sausage (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tsp garlic powder
4 slices mozzarella cheese (or shredded)
12–16 slices pepperoni
1/2 cup pizza sauce
4 brioche or potato buns
1 tbsp butter (for buns)
Optional: sautéed mushrooms, basil leaves, caramelized onions
Instructions
1. Form 4 equal-sized burger patties from beef (and sausage if using). Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
2. Preheat grill or skillet to medium-high. Cook patties for 4–5 minutes per side until done.
3. During last minute of cooking, top each patty with warm pizza sauce, cheese, and pepperoni. Cover to melt cheese and crisp edges.
4. Toast buns with butter, cut-side down in pan or on grill.
5. Assemble: bottom bun, optional sauce, patty with toppings, extra veggies if desired, top bun.
6. Serve hot with a side of fries or salad.
Notes
For a leaner version, use ground turkey or a plant-based patty.
Make it spicier by using spicy pepperoni or a dash of red pepper flakes in the sauce.
Store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat gently in a skillet.
